Mash can be enjoyed with lots of different foods, Bangers & Mash, Mash & Veg or just as a side to your favorite dish. But some people struggle with making the perfect mash potato. Maybe your Mash always comes out lumpy, hard or even too mushy. Here is a guide to getting that perfect mash potato...
You will need:
Potatoes (Maris Piper Potatoes work well)
250g Unsalted Butter
240ml Whole Milk
Pepper & Salt
Bring a saucepan to the boil.
Peel and then cut potatoes into equal sized pieces, rinse for 5 minutes and then put into the saucepan
of boiling water.
Leave the potatoes to boil for 30minutes.
Remove the Saucepan of boil and ensure the potatoes are going to be soft enough to mash, if not boil for longer and check regularly.
Drain the water from the potatoes and leave in the saucepan.
Add the butter and mix/mash together.
Add the milk bit by bit and ensure it does not turn to watery if it looks that way do not add any more milk.
Mash together, add a tiny bit of salt and pepper.
Keep mashing until there are no lumps.
When done you can serve, either as it is or by adding some sprinkled chives on top or some grated cheese.
