| Education : Homework The idea is this: The best way to revise for maths is to work through examples. It is not one of those subjects where you will have joy by revising passively. You must actually go through examples to learn and absorb the method. However, having examples you have worked through before can be excellent helpers when you tackle new examples. This is where your homework can really help. Whilst doing your homework through the year, make sure that you: - use full and clear working, showing the steps - consider scrawling in the margin an explanation of why you have taken each step and what it means Thus when you come to revision, you will remember not only what each step is with each type of problem, but also WHY you made that step. Why is a key question in maths - the explanation and understanding of why is what will turn you into a good mathematician, just learning the method will get you unstuck if a question is worded in an unfamilliar way.
