Self Employment: Enhancing Your Credibility
| Business : Self Employment Sometimes when you set up as self employed, others will think 'well what do you know; do you really have the skills needed?' One way to enhance credibility and show this is to write on your subject, and to lecture on your subject. For instance write a short ebook on the subject and publish on a website, or contribute to trade magazines. Even better if possible you might be able to speak at a seminar or even lecture on the topic at hand - in which case being a lecturer or guest speaker can really add some kudos yet it could quite happily be a low key and simple affair at which you spoke. The other benefit is that the more experience and knowledge people believe you have on a particular subject the more you will pay - and hence you may be in the happy position of being able to raise your fees accordingly!
