The key is to try and work out if they are with anyone. For instance if you see someone sitting on the tube that you like, try and work out if that person sitting next to them is actually their boyfriend or girlfriend - it is not a good idea to try to start chatting someone up when it transpires that they are actually out with their current partner - so always try to be a bit careful with this sort of thing!
