The Speed Of Planetary Orbits

Education : Physics

Which planet do you think orbits the Sun at a greater speed: Mercury or Pluto?

Remember that Mercury is closest to the Sun and Pluto the furthest.

You can see that Mercury must be the answer, using Newton's second law, Force = mass x acceleration. The gravitational force on mercury is massive from the Sun, and much, much weaker on Pluto.
