The World's Best Christmas Markets

Travel : Destinations

If you want to bag some bargains in time for Christmas, check out these markets from around the world.

Budapest is perfect budget breaks. Hungary hasn’t joined the Euro, so the exchange rate is great. It has a folk art and craft market with lots of unique treasures.

Lille can be best reached by train. Try one of the local waffles, and take a walk around the arts, craft and food market. Theres also a big wheel where you can see over the ice rink.

Edinburgh is ideal if you don’t want to go abroad. The German style market has a great selection of foreign cuisine, and there is also an eco-fair, ice rink and a big wheel.

Prague is best for romantic breaks, because of its stunning architecture and 2 main Christmas markets, with carol singing and local made goods.

Copenhagen definitely has the wow factor. Tivoli Gardens has a Hans Christian Andersen-themed Christmas Market. At night, it is lit up with thousands of fairy lights, fireworks and music.

Other places include Vienna, Berlin, Riga and Zurich.
