Tips For Eating Wholegrain

If you want to eat well, then base all our meals on starchy foods such as bread, cereals, rice, pasta and potatoes, but try to choose wholegrain versions wherever possible.

Maybe start the day with a bowl of porridge or wholegrain cereal, with milk, dried fruit or sliced banana. It’s a good way to get one of your 5 a day fruit or veg in.

Cereals can be an easy and hassle free way to get the wholegrain foods you need.

For a snack, try wholegrain crackers or oatcakes with some low fat soft cheese, instead of grabbing crisps or a chocolate bar.

Use wholemeal bread, rolls or pittas for sandwiches. Make them the night before if you don’t have time the next day, and store them in a container in the fridge.

Switch to wholemeal pasta and brown rice instead of the white stuff, as it’s much better for you and tastes just as good. Use any leftovers for a salad the next day, which you can take to work or college for your lunch.
