If there is sufficient mass in the universe, gravity will eventually stop the expansion, causing it to slow down. If there is enough mass than this may even bring the mass not just to a stop, but to collapse in on itself. However if there isn't enough mass, gravity will be too weak, and it will likely expand forever.
