How to find a hamster

Hi, I read everywhere on how to find a lost hamster but I need info on if a hamster is never found. What if it has died in the house? Will this cause any problems like disease? or illnesses? I am wondering if I need to pullup the floor boards. This hamster has been gone for nearly a year.

Thank you

Annie

I don't think you need to worry after nearly a year! Dead animals can cause problems with smells and maggots in the first month, but nature is wonderful at decomposition and sterilisation, so you have nothing to worry about now..
