Archaeologist

Jobs : Job Profiles

There aren't many archeologists as it tends to be a niche interest, but if you love scientific studies of remains, and finding out more about our past then this could be the job for you.

As well as actual on site work, the major component of this job is research - assembling facts, looking at theories, coming up with your own theories and detailed analysis of historical records.

You will need to be creative, disciplined, have a good head for numbers, be open minded and be a good communicator as you will often work across language and social boundaries.

You tend to need high education levels - for instance a doctorate is actually a minimum. Other opportunities may include more generic teaching post, e.g. of social science.
