There are rough measures as to how many calories the average female and male need each day in terms of calories to keep them going.

The figures are around 2,000 for women and around 2,500 for men, but of course this varies greatly determined by what it is that you actually do, and your stature. An olympic rower training will need quite literally several times the average number of calories.

You need to multiply your weight in pounds by ten to find the number of calories that you need each day to simply keep your body going.
