Career Progress: Learn Quickly

Career : Career Development

One of the best ways to get on in your career is the ability to learn quickly, and get up to speed with new projects and tasks at speed.

Why? In the changing workplace we live in where things move quickly, having hard learned knowledge but not being able to adapt is not too attractive to employers.

Rather they want people who can get up to speed with new issues and problems at speed and then set to work on them. This is much more desirable in the modern workplace.

Therefore it is a good idea to try and move jobs within a company every couple of years, in order to demonstrate this ablity, to keep yourself fresh, and to present yourself in the best possible light to your employees.

If you stay in one job for too long these days, then it can ironically actually harm your prospects to move up the ladder as you might get set in your ways and have less chance to demonstrate your skills.
