How To Deal With Pressure At Work

Career : Workplace Issues

Pressure in the work place is something that a few people strive on, most people just about get by with, and some people find a real night mare that causes them lack of sleep, problems at home, at work and even can lead to health problems.

If you cannot naturally cope with high levels of pressure, then you need to take steps to ensure that the pressure does not overcome you.

The first lesson is to be very disciplined in what you do and to plan very well. Planning your day at the start can add clarity and amount to great time savings as you know exactly what to do each day and have targets along the way. If you meet your daily targets there is no need to panic.

The second lesson is to learn that you cannot be responsible for other people, and you need to learn to let the worrying about other people meeting their deadlines in time go. Sure you need them to hit theirs so you can carry on, but you cannot bear the weight of the whole world on your shoulders.

The third tip is to ensure that you feedback constantly to your boss about how things are going. Some people tend to adopt the ostrich mentality of head in the sand with work issues.

If you brief those above you all the time about what is happening then they will know what is going on and the state of play and there won't be any nasty surprises to worry about should the often inevitable delays in delivery occur.
