Editor
Jobs : Job Profiles Pretty much everyone knows what this job entails - editing - that's to say, checking facts, re-writing articles, checking articles and pieces of prose for accuracy and conformity to the 'house style'. In publishing, the editor is a leadership role overseeing the content with a view to appeasing the target audience of that publication; hence co-ordinating stories, look and feel of a publication. You will need a great grasp of english, be passionate about reporting and writing, be prepared to work long hours and be very confident and determined in your own ability. You will need to know about modern publishing processes and great typing skills are a must these days. A good eye for detail and attention to detail are also required. You will tend to have studied journalism in some capacity to be a modern editor, though some do work their way up from apprenticeships and often through a field. You may decide to focus on a certain area, for instance science, in which case clearly a detailed knowledge of your subject is very necessary.
