Firefighter
| Jobs : Job Profiles This job probably doesn't need much explanation, though if you think the major task is fighting fires, that's actually not true! Firefighters attend many emergencies and hazards, and commonly perform operations like cutting people out of mangled cars using specialist equipment. A firefighter must be disciplined, cool and clear headed under pressure, and physically very able. There are specific lifting requirements which vary from country to country, but you must be able to meet them. You must be comfortable with responsibility as the fate of people may lie in your hands on a regular basis. There are written and medical exams to pass, and there is always going to be a need for firefighters. It can be a good and rewarding career, particularly if you possess the qualities above and wish to work with people and do a physical job, rather than an office based career.
