German Art In The 15th Century

Hobbies : Art

German art in the 15th century tends to be somewhat different to that of other countries in the period.

This is because German art was more conservative and also was less influenced than art in other countries.

Therefore in art of this time you will still see much use of gold backgrounds and scenes of great piety and strong emotion.

Another interesting thing about German art in this period is that the artist was still not famous or respected in the way they were in other countries.

As a mere craftsman, therefore, many works are unsigned as the name of the artist was not seen as something significant or worth knowing.

Therefore we will never know who actually created some of the great works of this time - a pity that their name has not been preserved for posterity, but at least their work has!
