Ginger treats nausea, as it has well known medicinal properties and can safely relieve pregnancy related nausea and vomiting. It is safe to take in small doses.

Garlic lowers blood pressure when eaten for 1 to 3 months it can create a dip in cholesterol levels. It can also slow the hardening of arteries that may lead to heart disease and stroke.

Soy lowers bad cholesterol because of its high doses of protein, and it also contains isoflavones. If eaten on a daily basis it can lower levels slightly. It may also be able to reduce hot flushes, although there is still research being done to prove this.

Peppermint oil can help IBS when taken in small doses. It also helps relieve indigestion, so is worth trying out if you aren’t feeling too well.

Cranberry juice is used to prevent urinary tract infections caused by bad bacteria, such as E coli for example. There is also some evidence that it may be able to stop stomach ulcers from forming and reduce the amount of dental plaque.
