| Career : Career Techniques If your company could do with expanding into foreign markets, or you know it is considering doing this, then you can make yourself irreplaceable - learn a foreign language! Why? Because more likely than not in order to establish relationships abroad the company will need someone to go over and visit suitable locations, companies and so forth in the country - if you can speak the language then you may get the job, but more than that it shows that you have a skill that is a real asset. Particularly in English speaking countries we tend to get complacent about speaking languages (ever heard someone say 'I don't speak Foreign' as though it were a language itself!)
