Personal Shopper

Jobs : Job Profiles

If you have a passion for shopping and clothes, then this could be the job for you!

You will accompany other people shopping and recommend what they wear. You may even devise their wardrobe to their requirements, and then find them clothes accordingly.

As a personal shopper you may be employed in two ways - either by an upmarket department store where you will be assigned a department - for instance ladies fashion - or perhaps a freelancer who makes themselves available to the well-to-do or rich client.

If you go for the latter, you will need to build up a portfolio and detailed knowledge of fashion. Read magazines that contain fashion items so that you always know what is in and out, and what is the next big thing.

You will need good people skills to put any client at ease and to ensure that you work with them not against them. You must quickly build up a profile of a person as you must buy items that are right for them as an individual and that they will feel comfortable in.

You do not need formal education, and will often start off working in standard clothes retailing shops, before working your way up the chain.
