How To Remember Names

Self Development : Brain Power

Some people have notorious problems at remembering and recalling names. This can be embarrassing both for you and the person that you met.

They feel that they are not worth having their name remembered by you, for instance that they just forgot it straight away. However this is not usually the case.

People forget for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes this is through having a sheer weight of names to remember that it is not possible - for instance meeting thirty people at a meeting there is no chance of remembering what they are all called.

Another possibility is simply not paying enough attention at the time of being introduced.

Therefore to remember and take mental note a good idea is to repeat their name back to them when they are introduced, thus 'good to meet you, Peter' for instance.

This process means that you mentally take the time to acknowledge and to repeat their name. You can even ask them to spell it if you really want to crystallise it in your mind.

On parting you can repeat their name again - it was nice to meet you, Peter, or hope to see you again soon, Peter.

This simple process will increase your chances of remembering their name greatly, and forgetting names need be something you are of nervous of never again.
