How To Repair Hammer Marks On Wood.
| DIY : Home Repair We've all done it at some time - missed the nail and left a dent {bruise} in the wood! To restore, place a rag soaked with boiling water over the mark, and heat with an iron. Repeat as necessary. The wood fibres will absorb the water, and rise up to sit flush with the surface. Note: this only works with bare unvarnished wood! On painted surfaces, you'll need to expose the wood first with sandpaper.
