The only problem is once you've had one, you're at a high risk of getting another. It most often happens to males.

The cause of these pebble stones, is a stone forming material such as calcium, or oxalate in your urine. It's to high. So you get a build up of crystals of calcium salts, and other materials, that are normally flushed away during urination. Then the buildup of these crystals in the kidneys, eventually begins to form into a hard deposit. Besides stones, you may detect blood in your urine.

Only time and a heck of a lot of water, will help flush a kidney stone. Sometimes surgery is necessary.

By increasing your fluid intake, you raise urine volume and decrease, the concentration of stone forming elements in the urine.

You need to drink enough fluid equivilant to a two liter soft drink bottle daily. To do this, you almost have to drink a gallon of water a day.
Very important for people with stones, or who are prone to them. You must get at least two liters of urine per day.

People who are inactive, tend to accumulate calcium in the blood stream. You need a daily workout of at least 30 continuous minutes. A regular workout will help put that calcium back into your bones.

Watch that calcium. Most stones are calcium based. So easy on milk, cheese, butter, and other calcium rich dairy foods. If you've had a stone, you shouldn't have more than 1 gram of calcium a day. Ex 3 glasses of skim milk.

Now if you've had a calcium oxlate stone than limit beans, beets, celery, blueberries, chocolate, grapes, nuts, and spinach.

Protein can also raise calcium levels. It may increase the presence of uric acid and phosphorous in the urine. This could lead to stone formation. So if you've had uric acid, or cystine stones don't exceed 6 oz of fish, meat, and other protein rich foods daily.

Watch those condiments. Table salt and any condiments high in sodium should be avoided. A reduction of these will help, decrease the concentration of calcium in the urine. No more than 2 or 3 grams per day.
These are some examples to reduce. ketchup, mustard, pickled foods, lunch meats, chip, and pretzels.

Beware of stomach acids. Some of these acids are enormously high in calcium. Check the ingredients on the lable. Make sure there not calcium based.

Watch Vits C and D. These nutrients increase the risk of calcium based stones.

Magnesium may help stop the recurrence of stones.

Vit B6 is believed to lower the amount of oxlate in the urine.

But if you experience pain in groin, lower back or testicles, or see blood in the urine see doc. These are indications of a kidney stone. He also needs to evaluate the type of stone. Then he can tell you, what you need to avoid from above.
