The Fate Of The Universe
| Education : Physics The word fate may imply a definite outcome which the Universe is purposefully moving towards, though quite what that fate may be is the subject of much dispute. As scientists discover more about how strange the universe is, the thought about what will happen to the universe in the future changes. However, there are a few possibilities which are fairly uncontroversial - the difficult bit is picking between them! (1) the universe will expand forever (2) the universe will stop expanding, and reach a steady state (3) the universe will stop expanding, then fall in on itself, with ultimately a total collapse (and perhaps another Big Bang event will occur)
