Why omega-3 products aren't worth the extra

If you ask anybody who ever reads the newspapers or magazines what is good about fish, you will invariably be told about fish oils and omega-3 and omega-6 too possibly.

So what is so great about these substances... you would imagine that fatty acids were bad for you from the word 'fatty' but rebrand them as an intriguing sounding greek letter and they sound a lot more interesting and better for you!

However, the truth is that none of the meta analyses (meaning study of the studies and therefore likely to be more reliable) have shown any significant benefits at all from those who have taken omega-3 supplements.

So the bottom line? These things probably don't actually work, but hey whilst there is money to be made and headlines to be written most people won't tell you this!

Are you sure that's true?

I have read lots of articles that suggest that omega-3 is good for your memory and your brain in general, there was even some brain training feature in the newspaper last week that had it as recommended foods to eat oily fish for that reason.

Surely it must be what people think for a reason?
