| Computing : Online Security The short answer to this is no. In fact it is illegal for the retailer to tell you that you have to do this, though this doesn't stop many of them trying. A common excuse is to say that x or y is their fault (the manufacturers). However in point of fact, you make the legal contract with the seller and not the manufacturer and therefore it is their responsibility to sort out the problem and not between you and the manufacturer. This is very interesting to know as many people don't and will then try a fruitless dialogue with the manufacturer.
