Jobs : Job Profiles

Clearly this job is related to the cinema and movies in general, but what does one actually do?

Contrary to the belief of some, this role is not that of operating the camers normally, but rather the planning and coordination of films.

For instance, this might involve setting up the right lighting conditions, the angles of the shots and the focus and so on. They also review film post processing, and make any changes needed.

The basic idea is to turn the directors and script writers vision on paper into reality on the screen.

As such, you will need the ability to grasp the key ideas of a script and work to the theme. You will need a very creative mind to come up with shots, and also a technical understanding of lighting and filming conditions.

Computing skills may be needed for editing and so on.

There is no mandatory qualification, but often you will have attended film school or some artistic school or venue.

There is high competition in this industry as in any other that many be publicly perceived as containing an element of 'glamour' to it. As such you may have to work your way up from the bottom - unless you have contacts!
