A pedometer can encourage you to walk further. This will help improve your general fitness and maintain a healthy weight. Instead of driving to the shops, why dont you walk? Set yourself a daily target number of steps, and increase it every couple of days.

Good trainers are essential to support your foot whilst doing sport, including walking. They need to fit comfortably and not be too tight or slip off your feet as this will cause injury.

Dont be put off exercising by bad weather. Buy a waterproof jacket to help protect you from the wind and rain. It will make all the difference and stop you from making an excuse not to go for a jog.

Heart rate monitors can help you determine which rate you should be exercising at. Dont over do it, but dont under do it either. You may be better off training for longer at an easier level for example. It also gives you info on how many calories you can burn off during different work outs.

Choose water to stay hydrated throughout your fitness sessions. But if you're more used to longer workouts on a regular basis then opt for an isotonic sports drink to help keep up your energy levels.
