How To Deal With That Dreadful Acne

Health And Fitness : Top Health Tips

Acne can be the scourge of the adolescent years.

Doc Says;

You also have to remember it can follow you into middle age and beyond. Many women have flare ups from age 25 or 35 years old, and even older. Some women have break outs at age 62.

Acne is a catchall term for pimples, whiteheads, and blackheads.

It is a condition where the pores of the skin become clogged and the person gets inflamed and non inflamed lesions. So you ask “ What is the cause”

No- chocolate does not cause acne. Dirty hair does not cause acne. Sex, either too little, or too much does not cause acne.

So you ask “ What Does”. Acne is hereditary for the most part. It is an inherited defect of your pores.

If both parents had acne, then three out of four of your brothers and sisters will get it. But if your sister’s face is clear, and yours looks like a war zone- beware other factors can cause an acne breakout also.
Sun exposure, stress, seasonal changes, and climate can participate.

Certain types of makeup can cause break outs. Even birth control pills.

Here are some helpful solutions:

Change Your Makeup.
In adult women the major factor is the makeup. Oil based makeup is the problem. The oil is usually a derivative, of fatty acids that are more potent than your own fatty acids. Use a non oil based make up if you are prone to acne.

Read The Labels.
That’s what there for folks. Cosmetics that contain lanolin .isopropyl myistrate, sodium lauryl sulfate, laureth-4 and D & C red dyes, should be avoided. Like oil these ingredients are too rich for the skin.

Rinse That Rouge.
Wash all make up off thoroughly before going to bed. Use a mild soap, and make sure, you rinse this soap off the face entirely.
You need to rinse at least six times.

Some docs believe that seafood, and other foods containing iodine bring on an attack.

Go Natural.
The least amount of makeup you use, the better.

Blame Those Pills.
If your on the pill , and having an acne problem, tell your doc. He may be able to switch them to another kind.
Some of the pills that cause break out Ovral, Loestrin, Norlestrin, and Norinyl.
If he can’t find another pill, he can suggest another method.

Leave Your Hands Off.
No squeezing. You will just cause them to spread, or get infected. Pimples may last a few weeks. But they will go away.
Their an inflammation, and you can just kindle the fire further. When you squeeze pimples, they just leak out on to the skin not infected, causing even more.

A pimple forms from a whitehead pore wall. Do not squeeze whiteheads either.

Now The Pimple - You Can Squeeze.
There is one kind you can squeeze gently.
If the pimple has a little central yellow pus head in it.- squeeze it gently until it pops. These open nicely. Once the pus is out, it will heal up fast.

Blackhead Attack.
You can squeeze blackheads. A blackhead is a blocked pore. It contains a solid material, and the surface is widened. It will not result in a pimple.

Fight and Attack that acne.
Use OTC”S with benzoyl peroxide in them The benzoyl part pulls the peroxide into the pore and releases oxygen, that kills the bacteria that aggravates acne. It’s like two drugs in one. The benzoyl will also suppress the fatty acids that irritate the pores. Use a water based gel. It is less likely to irritate the skin.

Remember all the lower strength products, are just as effective as the higher strength.
Five percent will work just as good as a ten.
Sensitive skin should start out low ,and gradually go higher. You will get some red., but it is normal.

Get Out Of The sun.
Acne medications may cause an adverse reaction in the sun. Best to minimize exposure to the sunlight, infrared heat lamps, and sunscreens until you know how you will react. Do a patch test for the sunscreen sensitivity.

Scrub The Skin.
Cleanse the skin good, before applying any over the counter medication.

DO NOT MIX ANY TREATMENTS.
If you are taking a prescription medication for acne, do not use an OTC too.

Stop the Spreading.
Apply acne medication about a half inch around the affected area. This will keep it from spreading.

ACNE MEDICATION REALLY DOESN’T FIGHT THE PIMPLE, YOU ALREADY HAVE. IT ACTS MORE LIKE A PREVENTER. ACNE MOVES ACROSS THE FACE FROM THE NOSE OUT TO THE EAR. YOU NEED TO TREAT BEYOND THE RED INFLAMMED AREA. WHEN YOU BUY AN OTC PRODUCT, IT SAYS TO APPLY ON THE INFECTED AREA. SO MOST FOLKS THINK THE AFFECTED AREA IS WHERE THEY SEE PIMPLES. NO THAT IS NOT THE CASE.

The Big Oil Slick.
Get a sheet of 25 % percent cotton- bound typing paper, and rub a thick streak of your makeup onto it. Now wait 24 hrs, and check for an oil ring. Within a day the oil will spread out and you will see a big ring.
The bigger that ring, the more oil there is in your make – up. Stay away from these slicks.
