How did elizabeth became a powerfull queen even if she was not married

Because she said that the country was her husband basically and that she was dedicated to that.
This went down well. She had good spin and people around her at the start of her reign and generally things were ok.
The spanish armada was seen as a good victory and she kept the other countries at bay which was a big positive and generally there was stability under her reign. She gave some excellent speeches.
