How do I solve a cryptogram puzzle?

There are a couple of methods.

The one that requires not too much brain power is trial and error, but that also wil ltake the longest and results in the least satisfaction.

The best method with standard cryptograms where letters are swapped over, is to try and work out where the common letters are. Basically in English E,T,A occur the most so look for the letters in the cryptogram that appear most often and it is a good bet that they represent these letters.
