How can I weigh my suitcase before travelling?

This can be tricky to do.
If you have weighing scales the simplest method will simply me to get the weighing scales out and to place the luggage on top.
Be sure that the case is spread evenly across the scales and not touching the floor. To help with this it may help to rest the scales on some books first to elevate off the floor.
