Is it a no-no to ask your boss on a date?

Is it not a no-no to ask your boss on a date, but consider that they might feel compromised by the question.
Even if they like you there is a certain stigma about going out with the boss in that other colleagues will either be jealous or suspect you of some sort of favouritism so if the boss recommends you for promotion then it could cause some raised eyebrows.
However if you really like each other then there is nothing ethically wrong with it!
