Twitter is a novel social networking site.
Unlike the idea of other sites where there is lots of functionality and things to do, with twitter there is one thing to do - tell people what you are currently up to.
This apparent simplicity is actually greatly appealling to many and so twitter has become one of the most used websites in the world and called a global phenomenon.
