Is web design the same as programming?

Question asked by: mrquestion

Asked on: 06 Jan 2010

Web design and programming are quite different things.

Web design tends to be more concerned with the visual look and feel of a site - literally the design - and the graphical elements of the site. Now many web designers also actually do the code but then often these days that is done with some software anyway so they don't need to get their hands dirty with code.

By contrast a programmer writes programs and code and works with a particular language or group of languages, so there need be no overlap at all between the two.
