KHF2......

KHF2 exists, but why does KHCl2 not exist?
Question asked by: psahu63

Asked on: 27 Aug 2010

This is due to hydrogen bonding.

Hydrogen bonding does not occur in HCl and therefore the necessary ion cannot form in the same way that is can do with fluorine, and therefore that cannot be formed.
