Yes if you want really fashionable clothes and have a lot of money then go to a designers clothing shop.
But for most people they can't afford anything like that sort of budget, so in which case the best bet is to go to a highstreet shop like you say something like Top Shop or perhaps New Look and get clothes from those shops, they often emulate the fashions of the designer labels anyhow.
