Why are all call centre staff impossible to understand?

Many people blame this on the fact that businesses tend to outsource this overseas to cut costs so you will be talking to people that have a different accent when speaking english to you.

Without the visual clues and seeing the lips move as you do in person this can make it hard to understand, plus the line may be poor quality and there could be background noise too.

All this combines to give this common and very frustrating effect.
