A solution of the equation X(To the power of 3) + 2X - 5 = 0 lies between X = 1 and X = 2. Find the solution giving your answer correct to one decima place.

Use a graphical calculator, type in the equation then simply see where it crossed the axis to get the answer, or draw it yourself of course by plotting some points.
