Do antibiotics help to get rid of spots?

Question asked by: mrquestion

Asked on: 18 Jan 2010

It depends on what has made the spots appear and how resistant they are being to normal treatment.

Spots can often just be caused by the hormones and the sweat and fluids being produced that trap dirt around the skin causing the spots to form as a teenager.

However there are times where antibiotics will be required to clear up spots either if they are particularly persistent or strong or there is another cause to them, so yes in those cases antibiotics can help. See a doctor if in any doubt about the cause of the spots.
