How can I find out the soil type I have?

Question asked by: mrquestion

If you are not sure what type of soil you have, whether it is clay, sand or some other type, then the best bet is to ask a knowledgeable neighbour who likes gardening.

Chances are that everyone in the street has the same soil type so just ask one of your neighbours to find out - or simply compare to photos online of the different types. You should be able to tell as they are quite distinctive for instance sandy soil has a yellow/orange tinge to it and is quite dense.
