How many signs of the Zodiac are there?

There are 12 signs of the zodiac according to most authorities, though some debate this and point to more.
Particularly if more planets are named then there may be a problem and there may be calls for more zodiac signs.
Of course as the whole thing is largely arbitrary anyway you could reasonably argue for any number you wish.
