What does the average philosopher do?

The average philosopher does not exist.
Well maybe no philosophers exist, but then that would be a philosophical answer!
Seriously though, most philosophers write books, do research and lecture.
They might also wear pipe and slippers though that's probably optional - the beard certainly has tended to cease to be attached these days.
As a philosopher you can get good money as a professor and also travel the world. You can also churn out a massive number of books on various subjects, and if you sell decent amounts you can do very well from it!
