This would be Australasia which counts as a continent and presumably therefore it is only Australia in it, hope this is the right answer!

There are only 12 countries in the south america continent, this is the the one and only continent having less nations

Actually, the continent with the fewest nations is Antarctica, which doesn't have any permanent inhabitants therefore...no nations
