Who is a famous atheist?

There are several people who are famous as atheists though most people do not shout about the fact or draw attention to the fact that they are atheists.
In the UK at least probably the most famous atheist is Richard Dawkins because he has written books that actively promote atheism and try to draw people to this view, his book the God Delusion has been called an atheist manifesto by some reviewers for instance, although apparently the quality of the arguments (purely on logical grounds) in that book is not very good.
