Why didn't the BBC sack Jonathan Ross?

Given he is supposed to now be one of the most disliked presenters on TV why didn't the BBC sack him for the disgraceful calls he made?
Question asked by: artiste

The BBC didn't sack him because they are inconsistent in their approach and because he was a big star they didn't want to get rid of him.
