It depends how literally you want to interpret certain passages of scripture and also whether you want to view them as timeless and immutable truths or whether you want to view them as a transient and passing view which reflects society at the time the passages were written rather than the future, the difference between moral absolutism and relativism, the difference between pragmatic and dogmatic, but any interpretation you want to find you can find somewhere within some part of scripture.
