Is the Bible literally true?
Question asked by: mrquestion

There are three schools on this.
There are the devout and ultra orthodox Biblical scholars who interpret things literally and say therefore that Noahs ark really happened and the creation story is completely accurate.
Most these days will say that these are stories that contain important moral messages, therefore we do not need to interpret them word for word but rather take the morals out of the stories and so on.
Finally there are those who are non believers who believe that everything is made-up.

"Literally True"? That question is not as simple as it sounds. The Bible has a lot of illustrations and symbolisim that is not to be taken literally i.e. The book of Revelations is filled with symbolic images (A revelation by Jesus Christ, which God gave him, to show his slaves the things that must shortly take place. And he sent forth his angel and presented [it] in signs through him to his slave John). So acording to that verse the images in the book of Revelation, including those of its beasts, are symbolic, not literal. The book of Danial also is filled with signs and symbols that are not to be taked as literal. However the meaning of the signs and symbols are very literal. The Bible is 100% true without any error. 1 Timothy 3:16 says, "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable, for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness." what would you like to know about the Bible. Feel free to e-mail me at email@example.com
