Why is religion less relevant in the West now than in the past?
Question asked by: knowitall
Interesting question.
Over the last couple of hundred years and particularly recently religion has taken more and more of a backseat.
Partly this is because there are no new fresh faces coming into the major Christian religions but rather their priests and vicars are getting older and older and therefore out of touch with the modern generations.
Partly also the states and the laws have gradually worn away at any power held by these establishments in the past to the point where they have none at all any more.
Whether this is a trend that will continue will be interesting to see, however with the modern fast paced life and moral standings religion seems to be less relevant to people in the west than ever before.
