Why do people get deluded they have special powers?
Question asked by: mrquestion

People get deluded for all sorts of reasons. One of these is wanting to feel special and have a power, so insecurity is a reason there.
However many people delude themselves without even knowing it and genuinely believe they have powers of some sort.
This is because the brain is always looking for patterns and to find patterns; some people find a link occurs once and wrongly believe it is because of A that B happened when in fact it is a coincidence; this then leads to them continuing with the practice in earnest belief and simply turning a blind eye to any counter evidence.
