Main features of metaphor and metonymy are?

I am doing a work on similarities and diferences of metaphor and metonymy so I needed o know more about them.

A metaphor is something that uses objects or similar to illustrate a point but is not to be taken literally, for instance "he has the heart of a lion" to show someone who is big hearted which means that they are courageous.
